Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Pulse. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We reserve the right to terminate accounts of users found to be under 18.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree to notify us immediately at support@heypulse.io if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account. Pulse is not liable for any loss resulting from your failure to secure your account.
You may not create accounts for the purpose of abusing, harassing, or impersonating other users.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Pulse to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, threatening, defamatory, or obscene
- Harass, bully, or intimidate other users
- Share content that violates the intellectual property rights of others
- Spread misinformation, spam, or unsolicited commercial messages
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts without our express written permission
- Engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the platform
- Solicit, exploit, or engage in any form of sex work or human trafficking
- Sell counterfeit, illegal, or restricted goods or services via paid events
- Use chargebacks or refund disputes as a substitute for the in-app refund flow
4. Content Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you post on Pulse, including event listings, community posts, comments, and uploaded images. By posting content, you grant Pulse a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and promote your content within the platform and in marketing materials (including event banners shared back to feeds, screenshots used in app-store materials, and social posts crediting your account).
You are solely responsible for the content you post. Pulse does not endorse user-generated content and is not liable for it.
5. Community Standards
Pulse is a community platform. We expect all users to treat one another with respect. We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these standards, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
6. Dating Feature
The dating feature is intended solely for genuine connections between consenting adults. Misuse — including solicitation, inappropriate contact, or fraud — will result in immediate account termination. Pulse does not conduct background checks on users and is not responsible for user conduct offline.
7. Pulse Marketplace — Events & Tickets
Pulse offers tools for users ("Organisers") to create, promote, and sell tickets to events, and for other users ("Buyers") to discover events, purchase tickets, and check in at the door. The Pulse Marketplace covers free events (with RSVP), paid events (with ticket purchases), and any sponsorship credits attached to events.
Pulse acts as a marketplace facilitator, not as the organiser of any event, not as a party to any ticket sale, and not as a seller of goods or services. The legal contract for any event runs between the Buyer and the Organiser. Pulse provides the platform, payment processing (via Paystack), check-in tools, and dispute support, but the underlying event delivery is the Organiser's sole responsibility.
8. Buyer Rights & Responsibilities
When you buy a ticket on Pulse:
- Confirmation & QR code — Your ticket is delivered to the email on file as a PDF and inside the My Tickets screen with a unique QR code and short ticket code. Either is valid at the door.
- Single use — Each ticket is scanned once and marked used. Re-scans show a duplicate warning to door staff.
- Identity at the door — Organisers may verify identity against your Pulse profile name. Bring ID where the organiser requires it (stated in the event description).
- Refunds — You may request a refund through the My Tickets screen at any time before check-in. The Organiser decides each request based on their own refund policy. Pulse does not guarantee refunds; refunds approved by the Organiser are processed to your original payment method by Paystack and typically settle within 1–5 business days.
- Cancelled or materially-changed events — If an Organiser cancels an event or makes a material change to the date, time, or location, you are entitled to request a refund. Pulse will investigate disputes if the Organiser refuses.
- No chargeback abuse — Using a card chargeback in place of the in-app refund flow, after attending an event, or after the event has ended, may result in account suspension and a permanent ban from the Pulse Marketplace.
9. Organiser Rights & Responsibilities
When you create an event on Pulse and sell tickets:
- You are the seller — You alone are responsible for delivering the event as described, complying with local laws (venue licensing, safety, tax), and honouring your stated refund policy.
- Pulse commission — Pulse charges a 5% commission on every paid ticket, deducted before payout. The exact amount is shown on your event dashboard.
- Refund handling — When a Buyer requests a refund, you receive an email and bell notification and have the choice to Approve or Reject. Approving triggers a Paystack refund to the Buyer's card; rejecting is final unless Pulse Support intervenes. You may also initiate refunds proactively (e.g. for a cancelled event).
- Event edits — Editing the title, location, or start/end time of a paid event sends an email and push notification to every ticket holder. Edit responsibly — repeated or material changes without consent may trigger refund requests we will side with the Buyer on.
- Sponsorship credits — You may add an optional "Sponsored by" field listing one or more brands. By doing so you warrant you have the sponsor's permission to use their name. Listing a sponsor does not imply Pulse endorses or has any commercial relationship with that brand.
- Check-in staff — You can delegate door scanning to trusted users (group admins, named door-staff with a per-event PIN, or specific Pulse users) without giving them payout access. You remain responsible for who you grant access to.
10. Payouts
Funds collected from ticket sales (less the Pulse commission and any approved refunds) are paid out to your nominated bank account on request:
- Bank details — You must add a valid bank account through Settings or the Payout card on your Event Dashboard before a payout can be requested. We store and use these details only for payout purposes.
- Cooldown — Payouts open 24 hours after the event ends (or after the event start time if no end is set). This buffer allows late refund requests and Paystack chargebacks to settle before money leaves the Pulse account. Pulse may adjust this buffer for individual events or merchants where chargeback risk justifies a longer hold.
- Manual review — Each payout request is reviewed by our team. We may request additional verification (KYC, event proof) before approving. Approved payouts are transferred within 1–2 business days to your bank.
- Rejected payouts — We may reject a payout request if the event appears to violate these Terms, if chargebacks or refund disputes are open, or if requested information is incomplete. Funds remain in your event balance and can be paid out once the issue is resolved.
- Chargebacks & clawbacks — If a card chargeback succeeds after a payout has been made, Pulse may recover the disputed amount from your future event balances or invoice you directly. You agree to cooperate with chargeback evidence requests within 48 hours.
- Snapshotting — Bank details on a payout request are snapshotted at submit time. Editing your bank details later does not change in-flight requests; the next request will use the new details.
11. Refund Policy (Marketplace Default)
Unless the Organiser publishes a stricter or more generous policy in the event description, the following defaults apply:
- Refunds may be requested any time before check-in.
- Refunds approved by the Organiser settle to the Buyer's original card within 1–5 business days via Paystack.
- Cancelled events entitle the Buyer to a full refund.
- "No-shows" (Buyer holds the ticket but does not attend) are not automatically refundable.
- Once a ticket is checked in at the door, it is non-refundable.
12. Public RSVPs & Social Sharing
If you opt in to "Share my RSVPs" in Settings → Privacy, registering for a free event or buying a ticket may auto-create a public "I'm going" post on your followers feed showing the event title, banner, and date. You can disable this feature any time. Private (members-only) events are never shared automatically. Organisers may also share their event to the host community and followers feed via the Share to Feed action.
13. Privacy
Your use of Pulse is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
14. Intellectual Property
The Pulse name, logo, app design, and all associated intellectual property are owned by Pulse. You may not use, copy, or reproduce any Pulse branding without our express written permission.
15. Disclaimers
Pulse is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We are not responsible for any harm resulting from your use of the platform, including (but not limited to) the conduct of Organisers or other Buyers, the suitability of any event for your purpose, or any injury or property loss arising at an event.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pulse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform. Pulse's total liability arising out of or in connection with any ticket purchase is capped at the amount paid for that ticket.
17. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Upon deletion, your personal data will be anonymised within 30 days. Content you posted may remain in an anonymised form. Outstanding payout balances are processed and paid out (or recovered against chargebacks) before deletion completes.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Pulse after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
20. Contact
